My headers are tight against the oil filter—how can I gain clearance?
If your headers are positioned too close to the oil filter, follow these steps to create additional clearance:
-
Remove the rear mounting bolt from the exhaust system.
-
Spray WD-40 or a light lubricant on the slip-fit connections near the oil filter.
-
Gently pull or adjust the entire exhaust system outward to create space between the header and the filter.
-
Once adequate clearance is achieved, retighten the rear mounting bolt to hold the new position.
This method typically provides about 1/8 inch of clearance with a stock oil filter, which is sufficient for safe operation.
