Can I use Hayabusa Gen 1 cams in a Gen 2 engine, and vice versa?
Yes—with the use of the Brock’s Performance Offset Cam Pin, you can interchange intake cams between Gen 1 and Gen 2 Hayabusa engines.
How It Works:
- The Offset Cam Pin 2.0 was developed specifically to allow the use of Gen 1 (1999–2007) intake cams—whether stock or on an aftermarket core—in Gen 2 (2008–2020) engines.
- The pin is reversible, meaning you can also use a Gen 2 intake cam in a Gen 1 engine.
Why It's Needed:
The cam position sensor pin location differs between Gen 1 and Gen 2 Hayabusas. If you install a Gen 1 intake cam in a Gen 2 engine without the Offset Cam Pin, the ECU will read incorrect cam timing, which can cause:
- Poor engine performance
- Engine not running properly
- Or in some cases, the engine may not run at all
The Offset Cam Pin corrects this alignment, ensuring proper cam timing signals to the ECU.
