Ultra Clutch Mod - How do I set the clutch at the adjuster correctly?
Proper clutch adjustment ensures consistent engagement and prevents issues like clutch creep or premature wear.
Here’s how to check and set it correctly:
-
At the lever:
Make sure there’s a small amount of free play—typically about the thickness of a dime between the lever and perch before resistance is felt. This prevents the clutch from being partially engaged at rest. -
At the clutch (throw-out adjuster):
Loosen the lock nut, turn the adjuster screw in until you feel resistance, then back it out ½ to 1 full turn, and re-tighten the lock nut. This sets the proper clearance for full disengagement. -
Recheck after a few passes:
Hard launches and heat can cause components to settle or expand slightly, so it’s a good idea to inspect and fine-tune your adjustment after initial runs.
